In January when Joe and I decided to get married I decided, in an effort to save money, (both mine and my parents ) I would hand make most things for the wedding. With the wedding almost a year away that sounded like a good plan. Now that I am less than two months from the wedding, it's getting a little overwhelming. In the last few weeks I have made 200 invitations, all the corsages, the boutonnieres, the decorations and centerpieces, my bouquet and my throw away bouquet. I love how everything turned out but it's been crazy.
My bridesmaids are all wearing different dresses. I wanted them to be comfortable because they are going to be in those dresses all day. The dresses they picked are all gorgeous and I'm excited to see them all together on the big day. They are all making their own bouquets from flowers I picked out. They are all the same color, just different flowers.
My bouquet is very different. One of my bridesmaids found an article about brooch bouquets. For years my mother has collected antique jewelry and has an abundance of old rhinestone brooches. This week I am putting the finishing touches on my brooch bouquet. It is, if I say so myself, absolutely gorgeous. And VERY heavy. lol
My dress is in the finishing stages. The alterations are almost complete and I go for a final fitting early next month. I love my dress. Joe has not seen it, and I'm doing my best to get it a secret. He doesn't want to see it until I walk down the aisle.
My brother has a theory about finishing a project. The first third of the time you spend trying to find the most effective and efficient way to do it. The secord third you are excited to implement the most effective way discovered. The last third you are tired of the damn project and just want it to be over. I am in the last third. I am excited for the wedding but very ready to be finished with all the projects. Whatever isn't done by December 10 just isn't getting done. :)
I'm new to the whole blogging thing... This will most likely include, crazy stuff my boss says, my bitchings, and stories about my cat. Enjoy.

WEDDING ADVENTURES or Holy S**t I'm getting married.
In a little less than two months, I am getting married. Wow, it's still sort of weird to say. Married. For most of my adult life and I have been very admittedly anti-marriage. I have mused on several occasions that if divorce was genetic, I was screwed. My family is littered with divorce and I vowed very early in life I would not add to that statistic. Don't get me wrong, I don't think there is anything wrong with divorce or divorced people. I just don't want to be one of them. My parents divorce was very hard on me, and my brother's divorce was and is hard for his children. I promised myself I would never do that to my own children. (children, ha.. anyway, that's another blog)
So, you're probably asking yourself what changed my mind. I'm still asking myself that same question. I really don't know. It was almost like I woke up one morning and thought, "I should get married, couldn't be all bad." While I still don't fully understand why my mind suddenly betrayed me, I don't regret the decision. We are sickeningly happy and we are going to be together forever. Married or not.
More soon...

Out of the mouths of ... random people.
I love to laugh. Here are some things that made me laugh recently.
- I don't think he's really a dog. Me either, I think he's part sloth. He's a slog.
- Ok, so I was drunk and I got MySpace and Facebook mixed up and started calling it MyFace. Now I'm starting a new website and let me tell you something, not just anyone can came on MyFace.
- Yes, but could you ever get the smell out of it? Nope, it would always smell like fried chicken and failure.
- I'm a dedicated employee, I put up with your ass for 7 years. You're not dedicated, you're just stupid.
- I don't worry about black holes as much as I used to, because I'm old now.
- Look, the slog likes meat. He's a carna-slog.
- Just about everyone here is named Joe, so if you get stuck and can't remember a name just use Joe. You'll be right about 85% of the time. But what if it's a girl? Then you're screwed, sorry. (Me and my niece-in-law's boyfriend who had never been to a mexican family gathering before. He was a little overwhelmed. lol)
- I've decided something for you two. Oh yeah? Yep, and I'm being very serious, I think after you guys get married you should adopt. Adopt? Like a kid? No thanks.

This is my happy cat, Mickey. We adopted him from a local shelter a few months ago. Joe and I were both kind of leery about getting a cat for a few reasons, number one being I am allergic to cats. I am allergic to everything. The only pet I have had that I am not allergic to is fish... and let's face it fish aren't much fun. Secondly, Joe always says he doesn't like cats. This cat has proven him wrong. He loves this cat! And as far as cats go, this one is pretty cool.
Our cat plays fetch. And before you ask, I don't know. When we brought him home we bought him a few toys, one of them being a stuffed mouse. I started throwing the stuffed mouse to watch the cat pounce on it, and eventually he started bringing it back. So now we play fetch for about an hour each evening or until he gets tired and wanders off. Oddly enough this is the second cat I have had that played fetch. My mom says that I somehow teach them to do it. I wasn't aware you could teach a cat anything other than how to use a litterbox.
Last night the cat was standing in the bathtub, so I turned the water on assuming he would jump right out and run off. He didn't. He stood in the tub and was amazed by the water. At first he would only look at the water from every angle he could get to. Then he mustered up his cat nerve and stuck his paw in the water... then I couldn't get him out of the tub! I think he would have played in there all night if I hadn't turned the water off. He played in the tub for about 20 minutes until I ruined his fun and turned off the water. Downside: he wanted to jump in the shower with me this morning... I didn't see that ending well. Other than the cat wanting to sleep on my face at night, he has been a great addition to our home. He's nothing if not entertaining. We're pretty happy he's here.

Here Goes Nothing....
I have been threatening to start a blog for while now and just never have done it. Mainly because I have no life, and no life = nothing to blog about. So, it will probably be me bitching about random things, crazy stuff my boss says, and lots of stories about my cat. Stick around, this could be an awesome way to kill time.
